Jack Church talks with Arianna Berksteiner, Executive Director for Emmaus House in Savannah, Georgia. Berksteiner said Emmaus House has been around since 1982 serving thousands of hungry people every year. Emmaus House offers a daily meal in the morning along with an opportunity for individuals living on the streets to take a hot shower and do their laundry. Berksteiner said the Savannah community has proven to be very giving with homelessness dropping by over 20 percent in the past two years. However, she said the need is still great and in the future she would like Emmaus House to be able to provide a day shelter in addition to the daily meals, showers and laundry services.
