Bob Dittman talked with Carrie Christian of Families Forward on how they're helping families in poverty, break the chains and move forward in self-sufficiency. Carrie says their program is a one to two year commitment from a family unit, on finding the issues that may be holding them back. Families Forward trains a family liaison to work with an individual family, whether the need is education, childcare, weekend food packs for the kids, essential supplies for the home like toiletries and cleaning supplies and more. In addition, they provide limited financial support. For instance, that might be a down payment to get into an apartment, insurance so they may get a drivers license, even a car payment, all in the name of getting to the next step, so their family will thrive.
