Sarah Shaver talks with Carolyn Kelly, Executive Director of Family Promise of Southern Delaware, a group helping families experiencing homelessness achieve sustainable independence through community-based response, focusing on prevention and stabilization. Kelly discusses the FP model which lets communities, including partner churches, dictate needs and responses, letting them be creative with their community partners. She notes family homelessness is often hidden and that it has tripled in their area since 2020. Kelly says they hope to expand their FP affiliate to serve the growing need. Their “Night Without a Bed” event helps people understand family homelessness.
