Jack Church spoke with Stacy Franklin, Executive Director for the Central Virginia Horse Rescue. The Rescue started in Central Virginia before relocating to Fredericksburg where it now serves the entire state. Franklin said rescues may occur from neglect, abuse or inability to provide for the horse. With rising prices and increasing inflation, some horse owners simply can't afford to keep the horses so they are given over to the Rescue. At any one time the Rescue farm can house 30 to 34 horses with the goal being to have them adopted.
