Kindra Ponzio talks with Nichol Maestas, Adoption Coordinator of Have A Heart. Maestas talks about the importance of microchipping your pet so that runaways can be reunited with their owners. She also mentions the importance of spaying and neutering your pets, not just to prevent overpopulation but the health benefits and disease risk reduction. Maestas shares that fostering is very helpful if you are not ready to adopt. She says older dogs add great joy to families and many make good therapy dogs. They have a thrift store in Tehachapi that helps support the mission.
