Jeanice Lee talks with Katie Berman the Founder/President of Kataluna Horse Rescue. Berman shares her personal story that inspired her to start this rescue. She says they are dedicated to saving horses from slaughter auctions and feedlots across the country before they are shipped to Mexico and Canada for consumption. Since 2008, horse slaughter is illegal in the U.S. Berman says they work to get their rescued horses vetted, trained, rehabbed while providing them a safe and loving place to be a horse with the end goal of adoption to a forever home. Berman says volunteers are welcome and it is a great way to learn about horses and make a difference. (KatalunaHorseRescue.org)
