Jeanice Lee talks with the Area Manager of Southwest SMART Reading, Della Harp. SMART Reading is a non-profit organization that provides one-on-one reading support and new books to children. Reading paves the pathway for future success. Without good reading skills children are less likely to graduate high school and may face other hardships in life. SMART Reading engages community based volunteers to read to Pre-K through third-grade children one-on-one while building confidence, literacy skills and spark the love of reading. Programs are available in Spanish.
