LOCAL Closer Look: Valley Animal Center Fresno CA

Hot Topx

Kindra Ponzio speaks with Ruben Cantu, Animal Care Adoption Supervisor at Valley Animal Center. Cantu highlights the growing challenge of pet overpopulation, noting that animals are arriving at shelters faster than they can be adopted out. He discusses his outreach efforts in schools to educate students about the importance of spaying and neutering pets to prevent overpopulation. Cantu also encourages prospective adopters to research breeds in advance to better understand their traits and behaviors. He emphasizes that all shelters are currently full and the situation is not improving. To help meet the demand, Cantu stresses the ongoing need for fosters and volunteers.
