Brandon Lake Wins Worship Song of the Year at the 2025 KLOVE Fan Awards

No one was surprised when Brandon Lake walked away with the first trophy of the night at the 12th annual K-LOVE Fan Awards. Leading nominations ahead of the 2025 ceremony with four nods, the South Carolina native notched his third consecutive Worship Song of the Year win, courtesy of “That’s Who I Praise.” Previously, “Praise You Anywhere” and “Gratitude” earned Lake a pair of accolades in this bracket.

We The Kingdom presented the award to Lake, who was accompanied to the podium by his two oldest sons, Blaise and Beau. Like their dad, the two boys wore matching cowboy hats and boots.

“I brought my mini cowboys with me. Aren’t they handsome?” Lake asked the audience, letting the boys hold the large golden ‘K’ while he spoke.

“It is the joy of my life to be in the room with my heroes,” he continued, looking out across the sea of faces, adding, “This one goes out to all my fans, ‘cause you guys made this song pop off!”

He’s referring, of course, to the viral moment that propelled “That’s Who I Praise” to the top of the charts last fall. The prolific lyricist rushed to complete and release the song after fan excitement hit a fever pitch online when the hitmaker shared a snippet of the then unfinished original across his social platforms.

“That’s Who I Praise,” which made its radio debut as a K-LOVE First, namechecks a myriad of biblical heroes, cramming as many Scripture-backed references into the lyrics as possible. Calling out David, Moses, Mary, Daniel and other men and women of extraordinary faith, the fist-pumping pop selection also acknowledges the many characteristics of God, as He reveals Himself to not just be a mountain mover, but also a breaker of chains and a Savior capable of the impossible. Lake penned the articulate offering alongside Steven Furtick, Benjamin William Hastings, Micah Nichols and Zac Lawson.

A series of fan-submitted reels makes up the official music video for the song, which also features Lake and his three boys with a wholesome close-up of the singer and his youngest, Banner, at the end.

Adding another No. 1 to his arsenal, the fan-selected hit will serve as the penultimate track on Lake’s upcoming “King of Hearts” album, available June 13.
