Billboard Chart Toppers: Christian Female Artists

There must be something in the American Idol Water! 3 out of the 5 top 2020 Christian Female Artists have all gotten their start from the super hit series, and it strung our curiosity that much more. From never having stepped on a plane, to secret tattoos and college educated beauties, these K-LOVE fan favorites are so much more than just singers.

Embrace the journey, as we discover 4 fun facts about each artist!

Lauren Daigle

Fun Fact #1:

Lauren Daigle LOVES food. So much so, that she considers herself a "foodie." When she isn't singing, the Louisiana native is either cooking or eating spicy food. One of her favorite dishes to create is homemade Bourbon chocolate chip pecan pie...now that sounds yum!

Fun Fact #2:

At the age of 5, Daigle was discovering her creative talent with music. After a day of rain, plant pots filled with water on her family home's front porch, and some inspirational encouragement from her mom, Daigle committed to paper her first song about Chocolate Milk inspired by those muddy watered pots.

So much so, that her mother called their house the "music box" as you could always hear song coming from inside.

Fun Fact #3:

Lauren Daigle the adrenaline junkie is not something she is outwardly known for. However, Daigle has admitted to being down to dabble in experiences such as cliff jumping and swimming in alligator infested waters as a child, and anything in between if it gets her adrenaline pumping!

Fun Fact #4:

Daigle graduated from Louisiana State University with a degree in Child and Family Studies.

Carrie Underwood

Fun Fact #1:

You wouldn't know that Carrie Underwood has never had a formal singing lesson would you. Well it's true. Her ability to beautifully harmonize has never been altered, she truly is a natural!

Fun Fact #2:

Underwood was the youngest person ever to become a member of Nashville's iconic Grand Ole Opry. She was only 26 years old.

Fun Fact #3:

She may have gone on to win the hit televised singing competition American Idol, but up until that point, Underwood had never been on an airplane...can you believe that!

Fun Fact #4:

Famous before she finished school, Underwood wasn't going to let that stop her dedication to her studies. The mega-hit musician returned to Northeastern State University to complete her degree in Mass Communications and Journalism. She is the epitome of not being too cool for school.

Dolly Parton

Fun Fact #1:

Dolly Parton wasn't always one of the most loved and adorable women in Tennessee. As a child, she had the opportunity to sing on television, however her schoolmates were jealous of the fact that Parton was getting extra attention, so they began bullying her and even locked her in a coat closet!

Fun Fact #2:

Her song Jolene is about a bank teller that admired her husband so much, he loved going to the bank because she gave him so much attention!

Fun Fact #3:

Parton grew up in a large family. 12 children to be exact, and she was just number 4. Her parents didn't have a penny to their name, so when Dolly was born, they paid the doctor with a sack of oatmeal for the medical expenses. If only it was still that way!

Fun Fact #4:

Dolly has a diet named after her that is also known as the Cabbage Soup Diet or the Stewardess Diet. Funny thing is...she has no idea why this particular diet is named after her. She did however try the diet once to see if she could lose weight on her own self-titled diet. Sad to say, she has not commented on whether or not the diet worked. Maybe skip this one for those who are looking for a new eating regimine.

Kari Jobe

Fun Fact #1:

Probably my favorite fun fact about Kari Jobe, is what she loves to eat! She isn't an all greens kind of girl, but someone who loves her carbs. Some of her favorite foods to consume are hot dogs, pizza, chinese and chicken. Sounds yum!

Fun Fact #2:

Her favorite book also happens to be her favorite movie, which I have to say is a classic and an all time favorite of little girls around the world: The Little Princess

Fun Fact #3:

Jobe weighed in on one of her favorite people, and surprisingly it is Avril Lavigne. Not just or her music, but for her sense of funky fashion.

Fun Fact #4:

Did you know Kari has her college degree from the Dallas Baptist University in Pastoral Studies and Psychology! She is truly an accomplished wife, mom and woman.

Tasha Layton

Fun Fact #1:

Tasha Layton may be well known in the Christian music community, however, despite that fame, wikipedia has no clue who Tasha Layton is. Someone needs to get her a page up stat!

Fun Fact #2:

In 2010 Layton tried out for the mega hit show, American Idol and reached the top 60 at just 26 years old. She didn't make the top 20 airing live, but it is still a great asset on her resume as she launched her career.

Fun Fact #3:

Due to her stint on American Idol, she was contacted to become one of Katy Perry's backup singers and was with Perry's act for 4 years before launching her own solo career in Christian music.

Fun Fact #4:

As a college student, Layton hit an all time low and realized she needed help, and fast. She decided to change her major from Music to Religion and was able to grasp what she was really feeling and in that transitional move, she was able to find peace.
