New Song Feature: "Somebody Like Me" Caleb & John

Following their debut hit, “Hallelujah Feeling,” Caleb & John are dropping “Somebody Like Me.” Their sophomore single was the first song the two talented musicians ever recorded together. After demoing an initial version that boasted their fresh vocals, the duo went back into the studio with producer Jeff Pardo to craft a new iteration that features their amenable collaborators, Logan, Taylor and Madison — the sibling trio better known as CAIN.

Together, the five friends harmonize on a pop-centric original that reminds listeners that no one is ever unloveable, unreachable or unteachable in the eyes of the Father. “Our prayer for this song is that the Lord will show whoever listens that it doesn’t matter where you come from, or what you’ve been through, Jesus can change your life. He’s sure changed ours,” the duo collectively attests, with John adding, “There is hope for you. If God can change somebody like me, He can change somebody like you.”

While their creative synergy and obvious camaraderie — both on and off stage — belie their short partnership, the two men have only known each other for a little over a year. Forming an instant bond, they’ve been writing and recording together ever since — despite their different backgrounds and musical preferences. The son of a pastor, Caleb Crino grew up in the Northeast before heading south to Nashville’s Belmont University to study piano. Meanwhile, John Secker — the lone brother to five sisters — is a self-taught guitarist, who has a penchant for gritty, rootsy melodies. Both Caleb and John have played keys and guitar on the road, respectively, for other artists, including Sam Hunt, Katy Nichole, Anne Wilson and more. Caleb & John is the musical result of their distinct styles and life experiences.

Earlier this year, the newcomers set sail on the K-LOVE Cruise, where K-LOVE listeners were among the first to hear new tunes from the duo. This spring, Caleb & John have earned a coveted opening slot supporting Jeremy Camp on “The Theater Tour.”
