LOCAL Closer Look: Aloha Harvest (Honolulu, HI)

Posted on Sunday, February 23, 2025 by Jeanice Lee

Jeanice Lee talks to Mele Pepa Latu, Executive Director of Aloha Harvest. Aloha Harvest is the largest food rescue and redistribution organization in Hawaiʻi. They pick up quality excess food daily from donors (wholesale distributors, grocery stores, restaurants, and hotels) then they redistribute it to partner agencies (homeless shelters, social services, food pantries etc.) to help feed the hungry. Pepa Latu says they do this free of charge and liability. She says by doing this it not only helps feed the hungry, but it helps keep food out of the landfill and helps the economy. Volunteers and partners are welcome. (AlohaHarvest.org)
