Tim Pierson, Executive Director of Bridges for Life, was Sarah Shaver’s guest. Bridges for Life strives to build strong, healthy families through compassion, connection, and community and they work to help families build support systems to overcome struggles by building personal relationships. Mr. Pierson and his other co-founder saw that families involved in the court system, through CPS or other means, had many services at their disposal, from transportation to counseling, while families who needed the services but were not involved in the court system or were just struggling with life didn’t have that access. They bult Bridges for Life as a preventative model to keep families out of the court system by bridging them to access needed services before there were legal problems. Tim pointed out that God created us to live in community and he shared a personal story of how he came to see there were serious problems in the Richmond community he needed to be helping. He went on to talk about their work in Richmond and the surrounding area meeting both immediate needs and planning for a better future, plus overcoming the stigma of poverty and addiction and letting a servant heart be born to serve the least among us. Tim also talked about their upcoming “Project Reconnect” program to reconnect these at-risk families with support systems post COVID.
