Monika Kelly spoke to CEO and President of the Brotherhood Crusade, Sharisse Bremond Walker. The Brotherhood Crusade was founded in 1968 as a way to empower Black families affected by poverty, political division and the Watts Riots in 1965. The organization helps at-risk youth--whether from a single-parent family or other challenges at home and/or at school. The agency partners with local organizations like the Los Angeles Clippers and the Los Angeles Rams to provide opportunities like STEM trips to San Francisco, Washington DC and even outings to the movies. Brotherhood Crusade also sponsors dozens of Black and Brown college students attending four-year universities.
