Peter Kaye speaks with Stephanie Ciranni of Cancer Bridges, a nonprofit organization in Pittsburgh providing free programs and services for those touched by cancer. Ciranni states the startling statistic that one in every two people living in Allegheny County will be diagnosed with cancer at some point in their life. She explains how Cancer Bridges has served over eighteen thousand individuals since its inception in 1988 through their one hundred and eighty programs. Ciranni speaks to the importance of socialization and comradery for not only cancer survivors but for caregivers as well. She emphasizes the importance of volunteerism and gives encouragement to those with a cancer diagnosis.
