Sarah Shaver spoke with Shannon Holt, Executive Director of Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), The Voice of Clark County’s (Indiana) Children. Holt explained what a CASA is and who they are meant to help, acting their role in the court system, acting as the eyes and ears for a judge in cases of abused and neglected children while they’re in the system. She said children without a CASA are essentially lost in the system and their needs would very often be overlooked, whether it was for medical care, education, or to see a family member or friend. A judge once told her, “The CASA is the keeper of the child’s story.”
