Becky Hansen spoke with Britni Lilley, Communications Director with Children's Advocacy Network. When a child is removed from their home due to abuse and placed in foster care, there are legal and government departments working to assist, but a CASA volunteer, A Court Appointed Special Advocate, is there to get to know the child on a more personal level and to watch for needs that otherwise might be missed. Many children see their CASA volunteer as that one adult that they can count on that becomes like family. There's always a need for more CASA volunteers and it's a time commitment that not only benefits the child, but the community as well.
