Jeanice Lee talks with Jim Byrnes the Executive Director with Friends of Children of Walla Walla in Washington. Friends of Children of Walla Walla provides mentoring to youth with at risk issues by providing a consistent mentoring relationship with a caring adult outside of the home. Jim describes the impact a volunteer mentor can make on a child’s life just by spending time with them. Volunteer mentors go through an extensive background check and training. Jim describes how they help support the parents through their programs and how the kids are referred into their program. Jim outlines their ABC School Mentoring program and how they can serve kids via Telementoring.
