Frank Baldwin, Executive Director of Muncie Mission Ministries was Sarah Shaver’s guest and he began by recounting the Mission’s history, reaching back to The Great Depression. He explained why it’s important they are biblically based and related a story of a successful recovery credited to the community’s belief in and care for the recovering addict. He also talked about the positive change in the neighborhood they’re in – and in the neighbors who once opposed the Mission being near them – and that the homeless and the addict is our brother or sister, an image bearer of Christ. Mr. Baldwin then talked about the Mission’s services for individuals, families, and women, including their Beauty for Ashes home for women breaking from a destructive past. He ended by saying their former residents often say it was friendship with a volunteer that made their recovery possible.
