LOCAL Closer Look: NAMI Washington

Posted on Sunday, November 14, 2021 by Jeanice Lee

Jeanice Lee talks with Alice Nichols the Acting Board President with National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Washington. There are 19 NAMI affiliates in Washington State. NAMI provides advocacy, free education, and free support groups so that all individuals and families affected by mental illness can build better lives and be supported. Nichols describes how important it is to have peer to peer/family support and the stigma surrounding mental health.  All programs are free and there are volunteer opportunities. Nichols reminds anyone who may need help or maybe ashamed to reach out for help… that you are not alone. (NAMIWA.org)
