LOCAL Closer Look: Winchester Virginia Foster Families

Posted on Sunday, October 8, 2023 by Jack Church

Jack Church talks with Alycia Kleckner who is a program coordinator for Foster Families of Clarke, Frederick and Winchester. Kleckner says at any given time there are between 100 and 125 children in need of foster care in the area. At these levels she considers this a crisis because there simply are not enough foster families to provide homes for children in need. Becoming a foster parent involves a process that can take between 3 and 6 months. However, Kleckner stressed that provided you meet the basic income and housing requirements a single person as well as couples and retired people make for excellent foster families.
