Peter Kaye speaks with Cassandra Agredo of Xavier Mission about poverty and hunger throughout the Big Apple and what the Mission is doing to address the need. Agredo shares that an average stay at a homeless shelter in New York is around a year and a half at a taxpayer cost of $100,000. She explains how their eviction prevention program is a help to both the struggling individual as well as the community. Agredo walks us through both the food pantry and clothing programs while pointing at the constant need for volunteers who would like to assist their neighbors in need.
