Peter Kaye speaks with Michael Hennessy of Youth For Christ Rochester about the crucial role of a father figure in the home. Hennessy shares the startling statistic that nearly three quarters of children in Rochester are brought up in a single parent home as opposed to the national average of one quarter. He outlines YFC’s Fatherhood Initiative, a basketball centered mentoring program for boys ages eleven to nineteen. Hennessy calls it church ball not street ball, with a strict code of conduct. He also shares about the God’s Girls program teaching needed life skills to young ladies and the impact it is having.
