Jeanice Lee talks with Christina Starr, Chief Marketing & Communications Officer of Habitat for Humanity Seattle-King & Kittitas Counties. Starr describes how they build and preserve permanent and affordable homes. They support new homeownership through new construction and essential home repairs by using a land trust model so that they have long term affordability with all the homes that they build. Specific requirements are needed to qualify for a home. Other programs are a home modification for older adults, and a debt relief program. Volunteers are needed to help build homes and they accept new home improvement items and furniture at their Habitat Stores. (habitatskc.org)
