His love is the reason text

Unspoken recorded a song recently called “Reason.” The song is the title track of the band’s latest album and carries the overarching theme for the project...

“In the hard times, I’ve sometimes wondered, ‘When is God going to show up?’ Every song on the album speaks to some different kind of emotion or struggle we’ve been going through,” says the group’s lead singer Chad Mattson, “but every [song] has the idea that God’s love is the reason."

"Come now, let's settle this," says the Lord. "Though your sins are like scarlet, I will make them as white as snow..." -Isaiah 1:18 (NLT)

Several years ago, I left a heartbreaking job situation. Filled with doubt and anxiety, I questioned my abilities and feared I wouldn’t be able to adequately support my family. Doubts pricked my mind. I asked myself: “Will this next job work? Am I enough? Is my education enough? Is everyone else that put together?” Through it all, I learned to beat the giant of doubt and experience the reason for God’s love.

When the giant of doubt appears, his first line of defense is normally false truth. The giant of doubt tells us we are unfit parents. He tells us we’re bad at our jobs. He tells us we will never measure up. Doubt whispers, “Does God love you? If He really loved you, why did you lose your job? Why did your marriage end?”
When I hear Satan’s voice of doubt, I fall prey to this logic: “I don’t see any results, so God must not be working!” The real truth is God is a multi-tasker, who is doing multiple things in your life at once—many of which you can’t see. He’s always working on your behalf. My friend, God is active, and nothing can separate you from His love. (Romans 8:39)

Author John Piper writes, “God is always doing 10,000 things in your life, and you may be aware of three of them.” Reason with me, here. Since God is doing 10,000 things right now, He might just be silently building your character. He might be quietly preparing you for something greater. After all, He is constantly molding us into His image; and as His children, we can’t lose.
We simply must be patient and remember that God works differently than we do.

You know what else the giant of doubt often tells me? He whispers, “That ONE sin is not forgiven.” Have you ever heard that nagging voice? Today’s verse reminds us our sins have been washed whiter than snow. Though we have made a truckload of mistakes, they have all been dumped into the ocean of God’s grace, and they are gone FOREVER.

The voice of doubt will always tell you God doesn’t love you. Satan will convince you you’re not enough. And your greatest fear will whisper that you’re not worthy of forgiveness. But friend, let me tell you the truth, Jesus loves you more than you can imagine. Because of Him, you are more than enough. And His death on the cross took the punishment for even your worst mistake. Why? Because He is the reason for everything. For love. For forgiveness. For life. He brings purpose to every soul.

His grace is great. His love is deep, and His mercy is endless. As the song "Reason" by Unspoken says, “He put that hunger in your heart” and “He put that fire in your soul - His love is the reason, to keep on believing.

Reflect and Respond:

  1. Why do you doubt God’s love for you?
  2. List three reasons why you surrendered your heart to Christ.
