Infinitely More Than We Could Ask or Think

Read the transcript from today's video devotional.

What an incredibly powerful Scripture for us to read and talk about today. Before we talk about this incredible power that God has to do infinitely more than we could ask or think, I want you to preface that thought in this Scripture with this. In the section of Scripture, the Apostle Paul is trying to get us to understand how great, how infinite, how vast the love of God is. It's important for us to understand just how much God loves us. If you don't believe that God really loves you, then you won't believe that He's really for you. If you don't believe that God is really for you, then how could you have faith to believe that He can do infinitely more than you could ask or think?

This text is more than just something to put on a bumper sticker or something to quote whenever you're having a bad day or need something good to happen in your life. No, it's actually a promise. That promise is rooted in the fact that God loves His children, and He wants what's best for them. He doesn't just want what's best. He's actually able to make it happen because of the power that He possesses.

God's Work Within You

I want to give you this very simple reminder today. God loves you. He really loves you, and the fact that He loves you is the very thing that's propelling Him to do the impossible in your life. I don't want you to just have faith for what God can do for you. I want you to have faith for what God can do in you. Look at what this text says. It says that "He is able through His mighty power, which is at work within us." You see, one of the greatest things God can do is not change your situation or your circumstances, but it's actually to change you. God is able to do infinitely more than you could ask or think inside of you.

That means that He is able to help you break free from addiction. He's able to help you overcome depression. He's able to help you have boldness to share your faith. He's able to help you to step out into the calling that He has for you. God is able.

Keys to Faith

I want to remind you of these simple keys that will unlock this faith that allows you to believe that God can truly do anything like this is telling us that He can do. The first key is this: to remember it's always about His glory. Now God doing more than we could ask or think, it's not about us getting great things, or us looking good or anything really about us. Ultimately, it's for His glory. Every good gift comes from the Father, and when God gives His children good gifts, it is bringing glory back to God.

The second thought is this: it is always by His power. It's not by our good works or our good deeds that we earn this promise of God doing infinitely more than we could ask or think in us and through us and around us. No, it is ultimately by His power. We lean into the Spirit's power whenever we are weak to say, God, I can't make this happen, but I trust that You can.

Today, I want to encourage you to remember that God loves you. Because He loves you, He is for you. Because He is for you, He is able to do more than you could ever ask or imagine.
