God has ordained from the beginning of time that work would be an essential part of human life. From Adam’s workplace in the Garden of Eden, to Jesus’ workplace in Israel, we can see God’s design for us to bring glory to His name through our labor in the location where He has placed us.
For us in the 21st century, we want our work and our businesses to represent the Lord well. So wherever you find yourself working, and no matter how difficult or dark the environment may seem, here are eight prayers that can help you have the right heart and right mindset as you pray for your coworkers and your workplace environment.
A Prayer for Peace Over Job Security
You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in You, all whose thoughts are fixed on You! – Isaiah 26:3 NLT
Heavenly Father, I bring before You the concerns I have about my job. Thank You for Your provision for me and the peace You promise as I fix my thoughts on You. Keep me from dwelling on my unbelief as I rest securely in Your power to provide. Guide me and calm my spirit. I leave every aspect of my job situation with You, trusting in Your faithfulness. A Prayer for Adapting to Change
For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength. – Philippians 4:13 NLT
Heavenly Father, help me to remember You are in control. When I’m anxious about all that is changing at work, remind me that I can do all things through You, Jesus. You will provide me with the strength and wisdom I need to adapt. Teach me to be flexible. Help me to see change as an opportunity for growth in my character and the skills You’ve blessed me with. Heavenly Father, help me be a positive influence in the lives of my coworkers. Empower me to be an encourager and bring joy to those I work with. Give me discernment for the needs of those I encounter today. Enable me to be a good team player that others enjoy working with. Heavenly Father, Your Word declares that if we lack wisdom, we can ask You and You will give us the wisdom we need. I’m asking today for wisdom to navigate a challenging situation at work. Show me how to handle this. Guide me in the way that I should go. Fill me with Your peace that passes understanding. I depend on Your grace throughout the day as I go about my duties.
