God's Masterpiece

Read the transcript from today's video devotional.

When I think about this scripture, another phrase comes to mind and you might be familiar with it. It's "one man's trash is another man's treasure." You think, how do you make a connection between those two? Because sometimes if we're honest, we can feel like trash. We wonder, how can this scripture be true? When I feel less than and my world is falling apart. You don't know what I'm going through. How can this be beautiful?

Truth Outlasts Feelings

We have to come back to the Word. No matter what we face, the truth will outlast any feeling that we've ever had. If you remember back to a moment where you've been emotionally charged about something, that moment has passed and the truth hasn't changed. We have to come back to truth. Even if you feel like your world is falling apart, this says that you are God's masterpiece. Why are you God's masterpiece? It says that He purposed things for you to do in your life long before you ever existed. I don't know about you, but that stirs some hope in me. When I'm facing something I don't understand and I don't see an outcome that makes sense, to know that God made me for this moment, that does something to me.

Made for This Moment

I think about Esther in the Bible. Maybe you're familiar with her. She was positioned to stand up for her people in a time when there was an enemy out to wipe them off the face of the earth. Her uncle encouraged her by saying, "Who's to say maybe you were meant for this moment in history for a time such as this." Maybe you're meant for this moment. I'm not saying that God created the turmoil you're going through, or that He is to blame, but I am saying that if we hold to truth, we hold to hope in the midst of the world falling around us. If we choose to remember this, that we are God's masterpiece, and that He planned good things for us long before we ever existed, it gives us a light to see through the darkness. It gives us a true north to hold on to as we're maneuvering the question marks of life.

Fearfully and Wonderfully Made

Here are some things I want to remind you of. The Bible says that He fearfully and wonderfully made you. That comes out of Psalm chapter 139. That means that He sat down and put effort into thinking about you, not just thinking about you, but creating you. You may not understand why you are the way you are, but God knows. Take some time today, as you're wondering, how am I a masterpiece and how does my life work together in God's plan? Take some time and ask Him those questions. He's good to answer, not only here and now, but through His Word. Take some time to dig in and ask Him, how is my life Your masterpiece? What do You want me to see that I don't see right now? He'll show you. He's good to His promises.
