The Book of Revelation is often viewed as this scary book that a lot of people stay away from because there's a lot of crazy events going on. The Bible actually tells us in Revelation chapter 1, verse 3 that we're blessed if we read the book of Revelation.
Here's the thing: we have nothing to fear as believers, and here's why. If we've placed our faith in Jesus, great things are in store for us. To those that have given their lives to the Lord, great things are awaiting. Is there judgment coming on the world? Absolutely. But the good news is that the judge is on our side.
That's a comforting truth to know as we read the book of Revelation—with everything that's going to happen, the judge is on our side.
Grace from Start to Finish
What I love about this verse specifically is that it comes at the end of the Bible, and John talks about grace. In Revelation chapter 22, verse 21, John says, "May the grace of the Lord Jesus be with God's holy people."
Our Christian race started with grace, and it's going to end with grace. The good news of the gospel is that you and I are kept by grace. I don't know what's coming in the years ahead. But here's what I do know: it's the grace of God that's going to keep me till the end. Nothing is going to snatch me out of the hand of God, because I am kept by the grace of God.
Grace as Power to Overcome
Grace is also power to overcome. It's not only undeserved mercy or unmerited favor, it's power to overcome. There will be trials and tribulations that come our way. But this is a reminder to lean on the grace of God, to ask for the grace of God, because God gives freely to those that ask.
In the last days, here's what we do know: the Bible says that the love of many will grow cold. This is going to be an opportunity for us believers to extend the grace of God. This is the Gospel: grace received and grace extended.
