The Trinity: Grace, Love, and Fellowship

Read the transcript from today's video devotional.

Do you know what word is not in the Bible, but its truth is everywhere? The devil actually doesn't want you to understand this. It's the word "Trinity." God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Our Verse of the Day is a tremendous verse. Paul gives this Trinity benediction, if you will, all the blessings that they already have. He reminds them here in this passage, 2 Corinthians chapter 13, verse 14. It says, "May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all."

He's already talked about these tremendous truths about the Trinity. Here he says again, "May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ," secondly, "the love of God," and "the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all."

The Trinity Throughout Scripture

You know, as we look at this triune blessing, we see these patterns all throughout the Bible, even in the Great Commission in Matthew chapter 28. He says, "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit." What do we do with this verse as we think about this? Well, let me give you three things to think about.

Lean on the Trinity

Number one, lean on the Trinity. Lean, trust the Trinity, not your own strength. I mean, think about it. The Father Himself, He's saying to you, as it were, "You are My son. You are My daughter. I am your Father." The Bible says in Romans chapter 8, "We've not received a spirit of fear, but we have received the spirit of sonship, by which we cry out, Abba, Father!" It's like the Father speaking to you.

Secondly, the Son. Jesus, is saying to you, "I have forgiven you of all of your sins. I've died on the cross for you. I've given you amazing grace. I'm Jesus. I've died for you. I love you."

Thirdly, the Holy Spirit. It's like Him saying—He authored the Scripture, the Holy Spirit. He wants you and me to follow His leading. You know the verse in Galatians chapter 5, verses 22 and 23, the fruit of the Spirit. What the Holy Spirit's trying to produce in your life is love and joy and peace, and all these beautiful attributes. What the Holy Spirit really also wants to do is He wants to magnify and showcase the Lord Jesus Christ in your life.

Connect to Community

Lean on the Trinity—God the Father and God the Son and God the Holy Spirit—and know their roles in your life. Not only that, but also connect to community. When you connect to a deep spiritual community of people who know God as Father, they know they're children of God. When you connect to a community or a church who understand that their sins are fully, finally, and forever forgiven because of Jesus Christ, and when you connect to a community that wants to be holy, that wants to walk in the holiness of the Spirit of God—that is tremendous connection and that has tremendous purpose. There's tremendous life there.

I have the privilege of being involved in a great church. I have some tremendous people I work with and serve with, and some friends that I'm thankful for. When you and I can connect to a deep community, this changes our life. As the Apostle Paul shared this Trinity benediction, these blessings to these people, I finally share again with you this verse: "May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all."
