For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength. – Philippians 4:13 NLT

I struggle with pride. Thinking I’m better and smarter and superior to others comes naturally to me. I have to work to stay humble. But I can remember feeling like a nobody in middle school. My spine pierced with pain one day as I was thrown against a locker by a cocky football player. Feeling like a nobody feels horrible!

But at nineteen I met Jesus, and my life radically changed. I often have no idea why God chooses to use me despite my pride, despite my shame, and despite my mistakes.

We are all trophies of grace.

Can I encourage you today? Don’t just be somebody, but be somebody for Jesus. God made you. He loves you, and He has uniquely gifted you. You were made on purpose for a purpose.

Moses, David, the disciples—these were all people nobody would have picked to do mighty things. You may think, just like these men, I’m nobody special. But friend, you are somebody God loves and wants to use to change the world.

Don’t listen to the devil when he whispers, Who do you think you are? You matter! God loves including you in His plans, and He has created you for His glory! Yes, you may feel unqualified, but God promises to equip you with everything you need as you spread the fame of the ultimate Somebody, Jesus.

In today’s verse, Paul reminds us our strength comes from Christ. God takes pleasure in working in and through His children (Philippians 2:13). You can do everything through His power (Colossians 1:29). Let’s be somebody who points others to Jesus today!
