Whether we’re going through a difficult time or things are going smoothly, it’s common to worry about our families. We want them to be safe and protected from harm. It can be easy to slip into fear because we can’t always control what goes on in their lives. But we have a God who cares deeply for them and is with them when we can’t be.
Here are five Scripture verses and prayers of protection you can pray over your family.
“May the LORD bless you and protect you.” – Numbers 6:24 NLT
Lord, bless and protect my family. Please provide everything they need: food to eat, clothes to wear, and a roof over their heads. I pray that they always know You are with them and are the One who takes care of them. Be with them wherever they go and protect them from any harm. Give them wisdom in every situation. Help them to walk away from anything that is not good for them. I pray that they listen to You and not to the things that will draw them away from You. Be their strength and their guide. I ask this in Jesus’ name, amen.
This I declare about the LORD; He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; He is my God, and I trust Him. – Psalm 91:3 NLT
Father God, be the safe place that my family runs to when they face difficulty of any kind. I pray that when they are scared, they will know to go to You first. I pray that they will grow in their relationship with You and know that You are the One they can trust to guide them. Give them the wisdom they need to deal with every situation that comes their way. Protect them. May they know You are greater than anything they face. I pray they feel safe wherever they go because they know You are with them. In Your Son Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose for them. – Romans 8:28 NLT
God, I trust You with my family. I know that You are faithful in their lives, just as You are in mine. Be with them in every situation. Work everything that is meant for evil for their good. I pray that they fully surrender to You and love You, knowing that You are the One who will carry them through every difficulty. Guard them from anything not meant for them and lead them to You. I pray that they trust Your purpose for them and hold tightly to You. Thank You for being with them and guiding them. In Jesus’ name, amen.
But you, O LORD, are a shield around me; You are my glory, the One who holds my head high. – Psalm 3:3 NLT
Lord, I know that You are like a shield around my family. Remind them of this when they face difficulty. Help them to know that You are with them and You are their protector. Give them peace and confidence in You. Hold their heads high and help them to pray when they are worried. Guide them and remind them of truth from the Bible. Bring verses to their minds to help them and give them hope. Be their strength when they feel weak and help them to know they are safe in Your hands. Protect them and be their shield. But the Lord is faithful; He will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one. – 2 Thessalonians 3:3 NLT
Lord, I know You are faithful. You are always true to Your word. We may face temptation and hardship from the evil one, but You will be our guard. Strengthen my family when they are faced with temptation and help them to resist anything that is not from You. Help them to stand firm in You and trust that Your way is better. Protect them from any of the enemy’s plans. I pray the enemy will not succeed, but you will turn every situation around for my family’s good. I ask this in Jesus’ name, amen.
