What the Bible Says About God's Protection

Protection

Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; He is my God, and I trust Him. He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with His wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection. – Psalm 91:1-2, 4 NLT

Safe and Secure in God

God offers us perfect, everlasting protection. In Psalm 91, we learn that this protection is directly connected to the faithfulness of His promises. Throughout the Bible, God speaks consistently about the safety we find in Him. Knowing how God promises to protect us will not only equip us to endure the trials of life, it will give us everything necessary to grow stronger through them.

Verses About God’s Protection

What is the price of two sparrows––one copper coin? But not a single sparrow can fall to the ground without your Father knowing it. And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable than a whole flock of sparrows. – Matthew 10:29-31

May the Lord bless you and protect you. May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. – Numbers 6:24-25

But let all who take refuge in You rejoice; let them sing joyful praises forever. Spread Your protection over them, that all who love Your name may be filled with joy. – Psalm 5:11

My life is an example to many, because You have been my strength and protection. – Psalm 71:1

The Lord is my Rock, my Fortress, my Savior; my God is my Rock, in whom I find protection. He is my Shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety. I called on the Lord, who is worthy of praise…. – Psalm 18:2-3a

He will cover you with His feathers. He will shelter you with His wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection. – Psalm 91:4

Verses About God’s Promises

God’s way is perfect. All the Lord’s promises prove true. He is a shield for all who look to Him for protection. – 2 Samuel 22:31

For Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom. You rule throughout all generations. The Lord always keeps His promises; He is gracious in all He does. – Psalm 145:13

But joyful are those who have the God of Israel as their Helper, whose hope is in the Lord their God. He made heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them. He keeps every promise forever. – Psalm 146:5-6

For all of God’s promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding “Yes!” And through Christ, our “Amen” (which means “Yes”) ascends to God for His glory. – 2 Corinthians 1:20

Abraham never wavered in believing God’s promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and in this he brought glory to God. He was fully convinced that God is able to do whatever He promises. – Romans 4:20-21

Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep His promise. – Hebrews 10:23

Verses About God’s Provision

Abraham named the place Yahweh-Yireh (which means “the Lord will provide”). To this day, people still use that name as a proverb: “On the mountain of the Lord it will be provided.” – Genesis 22:14

And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others. As the Scriptures say, “They share freely and give generously to the poor. Their good deeds will be remembered forever.” For God is the one who provides seed for the farmer and then bread to eat. In the same way, He will provide and increase your resources and then produce a great harvest of generosity in you. – 2 Corinthians 9:9-10

And God will provide rest for you who are being persecuted and also for us when the Lord Jesus appears from heaven. He will come with His mighty angels…. – 2 Thessalonians 1:7

And you saw how the Lord your God cared for you all along the way as you traveled through the wilderness, just as a father cares for his child. Now He has brought you to this place. – Deuteronomy 1:31

I will be glad and rejoice in Your unfailing love, for You have seen my troubles, and You care about the anguish of my soul. – Psalm 31:7

And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, He will certainly care for you. – Matthew 6:28-30

Verses About God’s Presence

But may all who search for you be filled with joy and gladness in you. May those who love your salvation repeatedly shout, “The Lord is great!” – Psalm 40:16

You have been with me from birth; from my mother’s womb You have cared for me. No wonder I am always praising You! – Psalm 71:6

Come, let us worship and bow down. Let us kneel before the Lord our maker, for He is our God. We are the people He watches over, the flock under His care. – Psalm 95:6-7

And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age. – Matthew 28:20b

I can never escape from Your Spirit! I can never get away from your presence! If I go up to heaven, You are there; if I go down to the grave, You are there. If I ride the wings of the morning, if I dwell by the farthest oceans, even there Your hand will guide me, and Your strength will support me. I could ask the darkness to hide me and the light around me to become night—but even in darkness I cannot hide from You. To You the night shines as bright as day. Darkness and light are the same to You. – Psalm 139:7-12

But as for me, how good it is to be near God! I have made the Sovereign Lord my shelter, and I will tell everyone about the wonderful things You do. – Psalm 73:28
