8 Prayers for Your Grandchildren

Parenting Adult Children
Family

We all want God's best for our grandchildren. We hope they will believe the Gospel and walk with Christ all the days of their lives. We want them to not be tempted or drawn away and we hope that their faith would remain secure. We pray for their protection!

Ask God's Spirit to empower your prayers for them as you come boldly before His throne of grace, assured that He hears you!

Let us be persistent and faithful in our prayers for them. Here are 8 prayers you can pray for each grandchild.

May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. – Ephesians 3:19 NLT

Father, this is my prayer that [name] may be presented with Your love and comprehend how amazing it is! I pray they will believe You love them and, because of that, they have the chance to experience Your love. Make them complete with all the fullness of love and power that comes from You! Amen.

But you must continue to believe this truth and stand firmly in it. Don't drift away from the assurance you received when you heard the Good News. – Colossians 1:23 NLT

Lord Jesus, I pray that [name] would be firm in Your truth and continue believing it. I pray they would not drift from this Gospel but be confident in Your grace. Let the reality of Your life, death, and resurrection be at the forefront of their mind each day. Amen.

Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God. – Ephesians 4:1 NLT

I pray for my grandchild, [name]. I ask You will be the main priority in their life. I pray they will live with You at the center, and with love for You that will not shift. Draw them near Your heart, put them in the center of Your will, and help them live a lifestyle that aligns with Your best for their life. Amen.

"But I have pleaded in prayer for you, Simon, that your faith should not fail." – Luke 22:32 NLT

Jesus, as You prayed for Simon Peter, I pray for my grandchild, [name]. I pray that nothing would shake their faith so much that they give up. Keep them secure in Your affections. Keep them rooted in truth, convinced that You are good, faithful, and will never leave or forsake them! Amen.

The LORD says, "I will rescue those who love Me. I will protect those who trust in My name." – Psalm 91:14 NLT

God, will You protect [name] through every spiritual attack? Teach them to trust in Your name when tough times come. Be their first love! Rescue them from the effects of the fall. Protect them from sickness, physical harm, and disaster. Amen.

Surely Your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the LORD forever. – Psalm 23:6 NLT

For my grandchild, let Your goodness and mercy pursue them all the days of their life! Be relentless in Your pursuit of [name]; I pray that they will dwell in Your house now and forever. Keep them rooted in the church, their eyes fixed on You and the promises of heaven to come! Amen.

"Keep watch and pray, so that you will not give in to temptation. For the Spirit is willing, but the body is weak!" – Matthew 26:41 NLT

Father, I pray that [name] would have a rich, fruitful prayer life. Keep them from temptation when they’re weak. Do not let them be deceived or give in to the accusations or lies of the enemy. Keep them in a willing spirit and give them the grace to be able to continue and endure! Amen.

So again I say, each man must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband. – Ephesians 5:33 NLT

Father, through Jesus, I pray for my grandchild's future spouse. You will bring the right person at the right time with the right motives. I pray for someone committed to loving them for life. I pray my grandchild would be ready and be an excellent spouse, submitted and committed to keeping Christ at the center of their marriage! Keep them both faithful for life. Amen.
