Who is like you among the gods, O Lord—glorious in holiness, awesome in splendor, performing great wonders? – Exodus 15:11 NLT
God is unmatched, unparalleled in all of His ways. No deeper love, no greater compassion, no stronger protection. Though creation reflects bits and pieces of His nature, He alone is the essence of all things good and pure. There is truly no one like Him—and there never will be.
Living Out Our Beliefs
While it’s easy to say this, it can be harder to fully believe and embrace it. Intellectually, we know God is glorious in holiness, awesome in splendor, performing great wonders—but the question remains, Are we living in a way that responds to these truths? Do these present realities inspire us to maximize God’s splendid presence throughout every area of our lives?
The Song of Moses
When Moses sang the words of Exodus 15, it was in light of God’s deliverance of Israel from Pharoah’s grip. Decades of abuse were eradicated. Generations of suffering were put to rest as the hope of a new tomorrow rose over the horizon.
They had not only believed God to be unlike anyone else—they had witnessed it. They prayed big, and expected big things. And in their hopeful (yet sorrowful) cry for God to move, He did.
Making Space for God to Move
If we want our lives to flow from the reality that there is no one like our God, we must build it on a foundation that gives Him the opportunities to prove it to us. If we are to see Him move, we must follow where He leads. If we are to see Him provide, we must cast our cares upon Him. If we are to witness His faithfulness, we must endure the testing of our faith.
Beholding God
If you want to behold God’s glorious holiness, witness the awesomeness of His splendor, and experience the great wonders He performs, it starts with opening yourself up to see the world as He does. It calls us to places unfamiliar and frightful. But in that space, we meet with the God who is unlike any other.
