(Discovering How God Brings Hope Through His Word)
“Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep His promises.” Hebrews 10:23 (NLT)
Holding onto hope can be hard. When problems come our way, we have a tendency to bring God down to our level. Our heads tell us that nothing takes God by surprise and that there is no obstacle too big for Him. Yet, getting what we know in our heads to translate into our hearts can be a bit of a challenge. Life often pulls hard against our hope. Circumstances that seem unfair, people who hurt us, the stresses and strains of everyday life, even our own shortcomings - all of these things can loosen our grip on hope. It's during these times when we need to allow the Holy Spirit to illuminate the truths found in today's Bible verse.
Simply put, we can trust Him. God can be relied upon to keep His Word.
It is in His Word where He reminds us it is impossible for Him to lie. This truth will never change (Hebrews 6:18). Therefore, it goes without saying, if God cannot lie, then His Word must be true. God even goes so far as to affirm the truth that He is watching to see that His Word is fulfilled (Jeremiah 1:12).
As followers of Christ, when we grasp these truths and that of our verse today in Hebrews 10:23, then we will be equipped to overcome all circumstances that can cause us to doubt the Lord's love for us. When things happen that cause us to question our worth in the eyes of God or become weary and want to give up, God has a promise that will meet us in the middle of whatever situation we may find ourselves in.
My prayer for you is that you live confidently under the power of the Almighty God, hearing, understanding and achieving His will for your life. This will be the fruit you see as a result of your relationship with God the Father, understanding the finished work that Jesus accomplished on the cross and daily walking in step with the Holy Spirit.
