Many of us struggle with our identity. There are voices and opinions coming from all sides telling us who we should be, what we should look like, or how we should act. It can feel overwhelming. The good news is, the source of truth, the Bible, tells us our identity in Christ. We can be confident in who God has called us to be when we rest in His truth.
Reflect on these Scriptures when you need a reminder of what God says about you.
We Are God’s Masterpiece
For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago. – Ephesians 2:10 NLT

We Are His Children
So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when He adopted you as His own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father.” – Romans 8:15 NLT
See how very much our Father loves us, for He calls us His children, and that is what we are! – 1 John 3:1a
Now you are no longer a slave but God’s own child. And since you are His child, God has made you His heir. – Galatians 5:7 NLT
We Are Citizens of Heaven
…for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for He called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light. – 1 Peter 2:9 NLT
So now you Gentiles are no longer strangers and foreigners. You are citizens along with all of God’s holy people. You are members of God’s family. – Ephesians 2:19 NLT
But we are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for Him to return as our Savior. – Philippians 3:20 NLT
We Are Made Right with God
Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. – Romans 5:1 NLT
But God is so rich in mercy, and He loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, He gave us life when He raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!) – Ephesians 2:4-5 NLT
We Are a Light to the World
“You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden.” – Matthew 5:14 NLT
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be My witnesses, telling people about Me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” – Acts 1:8 NLT
We Are Loved
“For this is how God loved the world: He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.” – John 3:16 NLT
We know what real love is because Jesus gave up His life for us. – 1 John 4:16a NLT
