You Were Made to Walk With Others

1. Why Does Community Matter?

God designed us for connection. From the beginning, He said it wasn’t good for us to be alone (Genesis 2:18). And when you follow Jesus, you’re adopted into His family—the Church.

“All of you together are Christ’s body, and each of you is a part of it.” 1 Corinthians 12:27

2. What Does a Healthy Christian Community Look Like?

  • Heart-felt worship with one another
  • Learning from and applying the Bible together
  • Encouraging each other through ups and downs
  • Supporting one another’s growth
  • Celebrating God’s work in each other’s lives
  • Serving others side by side
  • Meeting each other’s needs

Notice a theme? It’s not about pretending to be perfect. It’s about growing together.

3. How Do I Find a Church?

A. Ask God for guidance: God has a community for you. Trust that He will bring you where you need to be.

B. Look for a church that:

  • Teaches the Bible clearly
  • Loves Jesus and people
  • Makes space for you to grow
  • Encourages real relationships

C. Give yourself grace in the process: Finding a church may take time. Consistency is key in connecting.

Ask believing friends you trust for recommendations or use our Church Network to connect you with a local community of faith.

4. What If I’ve Been Hurt by the Church?

Church hurt is real. God grieves when His people are wounded. If that’s your story, take your pain to Him and connect with others who will love you through the hurt. Healing is possible. Try again, gently and slowly. Remember: Not all communities are the same.

“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” Galatians 6:2

5. What If I Don’t Feel Like I Belong?

Community isn’t always instant. It takes time. But you do belong. God’s Spirit unites all believers, and nothing can change that. Start small. Join a group. Ask someone to coffee. Show up, even if it’s awkward at first. Consistency is key. Trust that God will lead you to the place you belong.

6. What Now?

  • Pray for friendships rooted in faith
  • Visit a church or community of faith near you this week
  • Reach out to someone you trust for spiritual support
  • Join a small group or Bible study to connect more deeply

You’re not alone in this journey, and you never have to be.
