How do your words taste? I know that's a strange question, but today's Verse of the Day actually connects to it very well.
It's Psalm chapter 119, verse 103. It says, "How sweet Your words taste to me; they are sweeter than honey."
Sweet or Bitter Words?
Are your words sweet or are they bitter? A lot of times if I let my mind take me where it's leaning naturally, my words can be kind of bitter. My self-talk is more beat me down than build me up.
Maybe for you: you like to tell stories about your experiences and life, and you like to paint yourself out to be the champion of your own story, when really you were more of the villain. There's this back and forth on what kind of words come out of our mouth.
Out of the Abundance of the Heart
The Bible actually points to something interesting. It says that out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. What's in you comes out of you. There's a connection between your heart and your mouth.
This Scripture is talking about God's words being in the author's mouth, and he's saying that God's words are sweeter than honey. When was the last time you spoke God's Word?
Speaking What You Thought God Was Saying
There's a lot of times that I have taken what I thought God was saying, and I said that without checking with Him. Have you done that before? Have you spoken what you thought was in God's heart without checking it against His Word? There's something powerful that happens when you come into alignment with what this says.
Worship as a Weapon
There have been moments in my life where I've had to lean into worship a lot more than other times. Worship is a weapon for me. Again, I'm not perfect at going to my weapons all the time, but in the moments I do, there's something that shifts when I put my words to the words of God's heart. My soul comes into alignment with where He is.
Bless the Lord, O My Soul
David actually says in the Psalms: "Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless His holy name." He's telling himself, worship God, put your words to action.
When you sing or speak the Word of God out loud, you are commanding yourself to come into alignment with Him. If your heart is leaning toward bitterness, or your head is telling you stories that just aren't true, come back to the Word of God. Not just read it or think about it, but speak it.

Watch what happens when you put God's words in your mouth and notice how sweet they are to you. Sweeter than honey.
