Zach Williams writes a prayer for the prodigal on his new single, “Wait For Me.” A haunting melody envelops Williams’ soaring vocal across the emotive offering culled from the award-winning artist’s real-life story of rebellion and subsequent redemption. The original was crafted by Williams, Ben Fuller and Micah Kuiper. In fact, Fuller — who shares a similar testimony — is also featured on a recent version of the track. Furthermore, budding star Jamie MacDonald provides prominent background vocals on the initial recording.

The lyrics speak to an infinitely patient God, who never tires of welcoming His children home:
You wait for me
If I’m taking the long way home
Stuck on the same old dead-end road
I wanna leave the life I know
But when I just can’t let go
You wait for me
You keep on holding on
’Cause heaven knows I’m not that strong
I’m sorry it took so long
I was taking the long way home
But You wait for me
Behind the title cut, “Wait For Me” serves as the second single from Williams’ fourth studio set, “Jesus Loves,” for which he recently dropped a deluxe edition. “No matter how far you’ve wandered, God is still right there…waiting for you to turn back,” Williams says of the ultimate message behind the song. “He patiently waits to show grace and compassion to us, even as we turn to worldly things instead of Him.”

While the “There Was Jesus” singer transparently revisited his personal road to restoration in his memoir, “Rescue Story,” his parents, Steve and Jenia Williams, will share their side of the story in a new devotional, “God’s Heart for the Prodigal,” available via K-LOVE Books May 19, 2026.
In addition to contributing thoughts to his parents’ upcoming book, Williams is slated to hit the road with Third Day this spring, opening for the legendary Christian music act as the beloved band reunites its original members for a special 30th anniversary tour.
