"On April 27, deputies responded to a call from a single mother who said she could no longer provide a safe home for her 7-year-old son. When they arrived, she explained her power had been shut off because she couldn’t afford the bill, leaving them without heat. All their food had spoiled, and with just $5 left, she had nothing to feed her child. Despite working two jobs, she was still struggling to make ends meet. Deputies Basile, Santo-Domingo, and Akens stepped in without hesitation. They took the mother and her son to Walmart, buying over $300 in groceries using donated gift cards and their own money. They also helped restore power to the home. Because of their compassion, this family had food, warmth, and hope again. Kindness matters and these deputies made a real difference when it was needed most." - Arapahoe Sheriff's Dept. on X
