Each year, FCA develops annual themes designed to encourage coaches and athletes with God’s truth, provide opportunities for them to get connected to the ministry of FCA and help them go deeper in their faith.
In 2024, FCA’s theme was “24/7,” an initiative that encouraged coaches and athletes to temper the cultural hustle surrounding competitive sports with the continual hope and joy found in their Savior. The initiative was based on Romans 15:13 (CSB): “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you believe so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
Now FCA is announcing its ministry theme for 2025, “Glory.”
FCA CEO and President Shane Williamson stated, “All of us are chasing something that we believe will ultimately fulfill us. At some point, we will find that these things still leave us empty. Let’s discover a glory that never fades, that frees us to go all out on and off the field.”
The initiative is designed to shift athletes’ attention “From my glory to His Glory” through a realigned competitive narrative:
- Once Upon A Time, I strived for individual success leading to self-serving glory.
- And Every Day, I lacked the ability to live up to the expectations placed on me.
- Until One Day, God showed me He could do more with my surrender than my performance.
- And Now, I reflect God’s glory as a disciple maker because I seek His Kingdom first.
Williamson remarked, “We have an incredible opportunity to take coaches and athletes on a journey where they go from chasing their own glory to experiencing the lasting glory that is found in knowing Jesus Christ and becoming more like Him.”
Incorporating “Glory” into the lives of coaches and athletes can help them:
- Balance their time so they can be present with family, properly prioritize and be intentional and find margin in life.
- Pursue deeper discipleship, where they value being a disciple over being a consumer; find and maintain community and play with purpose in mind, not performance.
- Manage influence and pressures, helping them live with complexity, demands and loneliness, address mental health and manage life on social media.
- Manage tensions by balancing competing concepts, priorities and expectations, making sacrificial compromises and choosing to follow the Word’s way over the world’s way.
- Ultimately choose God’s glory over their own.
Williamson said, “It’s such an exciting time to be part of the ministry of FCA around the world! 2025 is going to be a powerful year as we learn more about what it looks like to give God the glory in all that we do.”
The resulting statistics from 2024 are both impressive and inspiring:
- FCA now has 2,992 staff members and 489 international leaders serving 21,151 Huddles around the globe.
- 93,614 people were reached with the Gospel at the organization’s annual Fields of Faith events.
- FCA distributed 219,444 Bibles.
- Approximately 115,000 people attended FCA Camps.
- FCA held 121 Sports Leagues and 188 Sports Clubs.
FCA’s theme for 2025 is “Glory,” based on 2 Corinthians 3:18: “We all, with unveiled faces, are looking as in a mirror at the glory of the Lord and are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory; this is from the Lord who is the Spirit.” FCA reminds coaches and athletes that their identity and value is found in Christ, rather than their sport.
