Promise Keepers is a men’s ministry, but it also has a Women’s Advisory Board, which focuses on the mission of Promise Keepers and the men who embrace it. The members of the board have a simple message to Christian women everywhere: “Get your man there.”
“Women suffering from life-controlling issues all have one thing in common: they have been a victim of a man in their life who did not keep a promise.” — Nancy Alcorn, Chair of the Promise Keepers Women’s Advisory Board
- Friday, July 31, 2020, from 6 p.m. Central to 9 p.m. Central
- Saturday, Aug. 1, 2020, from 9 a.m. Central to 1 p.m. Central
Promise Keepers, the men’s ministry founded in 1990 by Coach Bill McCartney and known for their massive stadium events, is bringing the power of that stadium experience to homes, churches, universities, military installations, Salvation Army locations and prisons across the country and around the world through its first-ever online Global Digital Experience July 31 and Aug. 1, 2020. The event, offered via livesteam and simulcast is being offered completely free of charge, but men must register to attend.
Woman’s Advisory Board member Nancy Alcorn, explains:
“The ministry I founded, Mercy Multiplied, helps young women ages 13-32 break free from life-controlling issues and situations, including anxiety, depression, sexual abuse, eating disorders, self-harm, addictions, unplanned pregnancy and...trafficking. These women all have one thing in common: they have been a victim of a man in their life who did not keep a promise.”
Women are looking for someone who will have a real, noncondemning conversation with their men about what it means to be a godly husband and father and encourage them to be changemakers in their homes. Women’s Advisory Board member Dr. Sheri Keffer elaborated:
“Women today are looking for a Christian man to have a conversation with their man in a very honest, real, non-shaming sort of way that will call them up to be who we need them to be. A man who will protect us and guard his heart from the things that may have made him move away from his wife and the things he loves the most.
“Women want a man to speak to their men who is willing to speak into the impact of the hurt and fear and pain women are feeling on a daily basis because of pornography, abuse, abandonment, and the things that hurt women and break relationships.”
Ken Harrison, CEO of Promise Keepers, said:
“Promise Keepers Experience is not a call for men to be more moral or more religious. It’s a call for men to become godly. That comes from realizing that God will do the work if we just lay or pride and our sin at the cross of Jesus.
“He isn’t asking us to clean ourselves up and turn to Him; He’s asking us to come just as we are, and He’ll do the rest. We will not have any finger-pointing or judgment — just authentic worship and teaching from God’s Word.
“Our goal is to start a global movement of healthy masculinity sourced in absolute surrender to God that will empower and encourage men to be better men, better husbands, better fathers and better friends.”
