The 36TH annual SEE YOU AT THE POLE event will take place on campuses across the United States Wednesday, September 23rd one half hour before the start of classes.
SEE YOU AT THE POLE is a student initiated, student lead public expression of faith. Students simply gather around their school’s flagpole to pray. Students pray for their nation, it’s leaders, local political and civic leaders, their school, it’s administration, their teachers, their parents, and friends. Adults from the community who wish to show their support of these young people are welcome and encouraged to attend.
See You at the Pole™, the global day of student prayer, began in 1990 as a grass roots movement with ten students praying at their school. Decades later, millions pray on their campuses on the fourth Wednesday in September.
See You at the Pole™ is simply a prayer rally where students meet at the school flagpole before school to lift up their friends, families, teachers, school, and nation to God. See You at the Pole™ is a student-initiated, student-organized, and student-led event.
While See You at the Pole™ is a single day event held around the world, the true goal is for the MOMENT to become a history-making prayer MOVEMENT! Here are a few suggestions to keep the momentum growing in your area:
- Start weekly prayer gatherings at your school. Check out our partner ministry Claim Your Campus to get started!
- Churches can host a SYATP Sunday to encourage congregations to adopt local schools to regularly pray for them. Ideas include showing videos (from this website or video from your local event) and having students and teachers share testimonies, etc. Look HERE for more details about adopting a school.
- Network with others to hold a post-SYATP rally. Feature worship, prayer, testimonies, a video montage from various SYATP locations, and an opportunity to receive Christ. Challenge students to continue to lead out in a dynamic prayer movement at their school.
- Report what happened at your SYATP event on social media! You can also email pictures and video to syatp@syatp.com. Spreading the news of your prayer involvement will encourage others and expand the movement.
- Reach out. Be ready for questions from your peers about why you were at SYATP. What will you say? If appropriate, invite interested students to your Christian club, church or youth group, or to the rally that evening.
