The Centennial Institute at Colorado Christian University is pleased to announce the publication of “Still, We Hold: Reflections on the Spirit of 1776,” a new collection of essays examining the intellectual, theological, and philosophical foundations of the American Founding.
Made possible through the generous support of the Considine Family Foundation, the book draws together contributions from historians, theologians, and scholars of political thought and explores themes ranging from natural rights and constitutional government to the religious and philosophical currents that shaped the Revolutionary generation.
“Amid our 250th year, millions of Americans are exhibiting a renewed enthusiasm for learning about our unique national identity and history,” said Greg Schaller, director of the Centennial Institute. “There’s no better time, then, for readers to rediscover the ideas that gave rise to this nation and to ask what it will take to carry that same spirit into our next 250 years.”
The collection's eleven essays span a wide range of approaches to the Founding era:

- Dr. David Rainbow on the American Revolution's influence on later republican revolutions
- Dr. David Murphy on Washington's Delaware crossing as a model for national renewal

- Dr. Donald Sweeting on the Bible’s enduring impact on the American Founding
- John Andrews on whether and how the Spirit of 1776 can be recovered today
