“Let Your unfailing love surround us, LORD,
for our hope is in You alone.” – Psalm 33:22 (NLT)

Viktor Frankl was an Austrian psychiatrist and neurologist. He was also a Holocaust survivor. He lost his parents and pregnant wife in the concentration camps during his three-year imprisonment. After the Americans arrived and liberated the prisoners, he wrote a book entitled “Man's Search for Meaning,” in which he documented his observations of fellow prisoners and conclusions from his experience.

Viktor wrote: "...if a prisoner felt that he could no longer endure the realities of camp life, he found a way out in his mental life—an invaluable opportunity to dwell in the spiritual domain, the one that the SS were unable to destroy. Spiritual life strengthened the prisoner, helped him adapt, and thereby improved his chances of survival."

Many of us find hope in our family, some in job security, some in financial health. Still, if you read the story of Viktor Frankl, he had every one of those elements taken from him. As he points out, the best solution and the healthiest response is to seek something that cannot be taken away from you, "dwell in the spiritual domain."

In the face of profound suffering, Viktor discovered an enduring truth: the power of dwelling in the spiritual domain. Stripped of family, security and health, he found resilience in a realm untouched by external circumstances. Frankl's story illuminates the timeless wisdom of seeking an unassailable refuge in Jesus.

“The best solution and the healthiest response is to seek something that cannot be taken away from you.”

Tip of the Day

Consolidate your hope and security in the unchanging source of God's love. In times of uncertainty, focus on the unwavering nature of His love which provides a steadfast anchor that can withstand any storm life may bring.

Prayer

Father, Your unfailing love surrounds me; for my hope is in You alone. In moments of uncertainty and challenge, remind me of the unchanging nature of Your love, which is the source of hope that transcends circumstances. In Jesus' name, amen.

Pause and Reflect:

Where do you usually find hope and security?

How might relying on God's unchanging love impact your response to challenges?

Can you recall times when leaning on God's love strengthened your soul during difficulties?
