We The Kingdom exudes unshakable confidence on their new single, “Rescue Me.” The collective’s Martin Cash reveals he actually started writing the track when he was in high school and recently completed it with his bandmates for the group’s new seven-song collection, “Dear Jesus.” Since welcoming his son, the idea of rescue has taken on an entirely different meaning for the first-time father.

“I think about making that 911 call. You don’t hear the sirens when you’re waiting to be rescued. You know help is on the way, but you don’t hear the evidence of it. And, I think that has to break God’s father heart,” Martin told K-LOVE afternoon show host Lauree during a recent interview. “We don’t feel the urgency of God’s saving grace all the time, but that does not mean that He is not readily on the way and doing everything He can to get to us.”

Heavy drums, electric guitars and prominent banjo drive the undeniable rock feel of “Rescue Me” from the first downbeat. Martin, who is normally behind the drum kit, helms rare lead vocals on the song’s second stanza; while his dad, Ed Cash, assumes lead on the initial verse. Meanwhile, a trio of background singers helps affirm the message behind the fiery original, which uses the story in the Bible of David and Goliath to exemplify how God’s arrival comes right on time and, often, in the most unexpected of ways. Yet, no matter the scenario, the end of the story is the same: God always shows up.

In addition to his work with We The Kingdom, Martin appears to be cooking up some solo songs in his home studio, sharing his progress on his personal social platforms. He also frequently co-writes with other artists and regularly plays drums for various projects, most recently contributing rhythm to recordings from Josiah Queen, Francesca Battistelli and his sister, Franni Cash.

While the band has been busy releasing new music, We The Kingdom’s early hit, “God So Loved,” just received a Gold® certification from the RIAA.
