So Many Voices
We live in a world that's filled with noise everywhere we go. Whether you're at the gym or in an elevator, there's always noise around us. Think about this: we have social media. We have the news. Then we have what we tell ourselves—that internal dialogue, right? What is truth?
It can get so overwhelming, because there are so many different voices coming at us that we start to wonder, is there truth? Where do we go if we're looking for truth?
Our Verse of the Day comes from Proverbs chapter 30, verse 5. It says, "Every word of God proves true. He is a shield to all who come to Him for protection."
Every Word of God Proves True
Notice that our verse says every word of God is true—not just some words, but every word.
You and I will have competing voices in our lives. The challenge is to drown out these other voices that are condemning us and discouraging us. We have to get to a place where we allow the voice of God to be the clearest and the loudest in our lives.
How do we do that? We do that by filling our minds with the truth of God's Word. Here's why: every word of God proves true. God has a good track record. We can look all throughout Scripture and see the faithfulness of God over and over.
A Shield to All Who Come to Him
It says every word of God proves true, and then it says He's a shield—speaking of protection—to all who come to Him. Think about this: when you get to a place in life where you feel like you're drowning, you feel like all hell is breaking loose in your life, where do you turn? Some people turn to the bottle. Some people numb themselves. Some people turn to shopping, gambling, anything to numb the pain.
For the believer, we have a place to take our pain. We have a shield. Notice it says "to all who come to Him." There's an invitation. That shield is only for those who come to Him.
Have You Come to Him?
My question to us today is simple: have you come to Him? If you haven't, you're going to turn to these other places where you think you'll find satisfaction and you think you'll find answers, and you'll walk away feeling discouraged. You're going to continue to look for truth.
God is so gracious that He's given us His Word. He's given us truth. That is a lamp unto our feet. Hear the Word of the Lord again. It says, "Every word of God proves true. He is a shield to all who come to Him for protection."
