Former We The Kingdom frontwoman Franni Cash returns to the airwaves with her radio debut, “Jesus All Along.” The autobiographical original finds Cash connecting the dots of her history with the Lord and realizing He was always present, even in the moments when she didn’t necessarily see how He was still writing her story.
The soulful, slow-burning ballad is full of lyrical vulnerability and boasts a passionate, emotive delivery from Cash, who penned the song with Andy Cherry and Jordan Sapp. Her husband, Austin Cain, produced the track. Cash’s signature vocal soars on the chorus:
Somebody saved this
Long-gone lost cause
When I barely was breathing
He gave me a song
And I think that I’ve known it
Since when I was young
It was Jesus, Jesus all along
Featuring a collage of photographs from Cash’s life, the single’s nostalgic cover art is a nod to the full-circle moment that culminates on “Jesus All Along.” It even includes a snapshot of her with her co-writers, taken the day they crafted the song.
The Tennessee native recently made her national television debut performing “Jesus All Along” on “FOX & Friends.”
While “Jesus All Along” marks Cash’s inaugural run at radio, she’s already dropped a handful of sonically diverse selections, many of which delve into her background as a member of a church cult and how that experience shaped her view of God and religion. Her new era feels full of color, candor and courage.
“I used to think I met the ‘real Jesus’ after I left the cult I grew up in…until I realized He had been there all along,” Cash remarks, admitting it took a lot of therapy and prayer after her family exited that unhealthy church environment to make this discovery. “He isn’t only there when life makes sense. He’s there when you can barely breathe, breathing you back to life, healing your heart and working all things for your good. I realized I didn’t find Him later. He had been there since my beginning. It was Jesus. All along.”
Cash is currently introducing fans to her new music on Brandon Lake’s “King Of Hearts Tour” this spring.
