Matthew West reminds us we’re never so far gone that we can’t take one step in the right direction on “Back To Jesus.” His latest original brings comfort to anyone who feels like they can’t outrun their mistakes.

“Jesus is a chaser. He leaves the 99 to come after the one. He meets us in our mess, finds us when we’ve wandered, and never stops calling us home. That’s what ‘Back To Jesus’ is all about,” West remarks. “Be reminded that no matter how far you’ve gone, you’re always only one step back to Him.”

West wrote “Back To Jesus” with his longtime collaborator, AJ Pruis, and filmed a powerful music video to accompany the song that includes two poignant storylines: one featuring an incarcerated pastor’s son and another depicting a young girl who’s seemingly lost her way.

Across a redemptive chorus, West underscores the Father’s compassion for His children as he sings:

You can make a million wrong turns
That lead you to a million dead ends
You can think your last bridge is burned
And there’s no going back home again
But no matter how far you are, no one chases a heart like He does
You’re always only one step back to Jesus

The hope-filled anthem appears on West’s brand-new album, “Jesus Is King,” which also boasts his most recent No. 1, “Good.”

In support of the project, the three-time K-LOVE Fan Award winner is currently headlining a run of shows across the country. He just announced a second round of the “Jesus Is King Tour,” slated for Spring 2027, which includes a stop at Nashville’s iconic Ryman Auditorium in April. In between both legs of the nationwide outing, he’ll reprise his annual “Come Home For Christmas Tour” with a full fan weekend in Franklin, Tennessee, and eight holiday concerts in select cities throughout December.
